#Edodecides: Inec is the most dangerous institution in Nigeria – Davido

Nigerian music star Davido has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for problems in the ongoing Edo State governorship election.

In several posts on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, he called INEC the most dangerous institution in Nigeria. He said he’s paying close attention to the election because his late mother was from Edo State.

He also mentioned his experience during the 2022 Osun State election, saying it took a lot of effort and public pressure to fix issues back then

He tweeted, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha… @inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”

The music star also replied to Deputy Inspector General of Police Frank Mba’s advice that voters should go home right after casting their votes.

In an interview with Channels Television early Saturday, Mba asked Edo residents to vote and then go home afterward. He also said there would be a ban on vehicle movement from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Mba said, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be out on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”

Reacting to Mba’s statement, Davido tweeted, “Loooooooool, go where???”

Davido has supposedly said he supports the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, before the election.
