Jamie Gittens scored two goals to help Borussia Dortmund beat Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Last season’s runner-up Dortmund took the lead in the 76th minute when Gittens, an England Under-21 player, shot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball deflected off two defenders and looped into the far corner.

Gittens scored again to make it 2-0 after doing two stepovers before shooting into the bottom corner.

Serhou Guirassy was fouled by Brandon Mechele in injury time and chipped the penalty down the middle to make it 3-0.

The game was fast-paced, with Brugge’s Hugo Vetlesen coming close when he hit the crossbar from close range.

Even though the scoreline suggested an easy win for Dortmund, Brugge had many chances. Raphael Onyedika and Vetlesen forced saves from Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, while Hans Vanaken shot over the bar from the edge of the box.

Christos Tzolis also missed a header at the far post as Brugge regretted not taking their chances, while Dortmund scored three times in the last 14 minutes.
